Catechism (CCD)
Ministry of Religious EducationReligious education for children has always been the most vital activity of St Alphonsa parish. The CCD program started six years back while Blessed Alphonsa Mission was just establishing. As the Mission had no infrastructure of its own all the children, around 10-12, from the Mission would gather under a tree in open air in Rancho San Antonio, Chatsworth, after Holy Mass, and reflect on Bible stories often taken from the internet. "Readings in Faith" was another CCD activity to encourage children to read value oriented books. As the years rolled by, with the grace of the Almighty and the intercession of our patroness, St. Alphonsa, the Mission purchased its own church building in 2008, and acquired the status of a parish. Thereafter, despite of the limited resources, the CCD activities of the parish has evolved into a very disciplined and structured program. Now there are five classes with a total enrollment of eighty students. Besides, there is a separate youth program too. There are seventeen teachers under the supervision of whom this ministry is conducted. Every month CCD staff meetings are held to discuss the issues related to the ministry. Parent-teacher meetings are also held occasionally as need arises. The CCD classes are held every Sunday from 9: 25 a.m. to 10:20 a.m. By the special providence of God, and the support of the parents, St. Alphonsa's Religious Education Ministry is constantly growing in strength and brotherhood.
